Greetings from Margaritaville, NC
« on: April 26, 2013, 09:53:53 AM »
Hello

I am a long time player but new Taylor owner (2008 T5).  I play professionally (70's acoustic rock and trop rock) but the arthritis and tendonitis in the left hand was starting to get to me.

I wanted an acoustic guitar that was easier on the hand to play.  The T5 seems to fill the bill, although I am still struggling to get a more acoustis sound from it....and welcome your suggestions

Welcome aboard, Captain Dar.  Another captain here, also with a T-5.  I really like the acoustic sound I get with the T-5 into a Fishman Loudbox Mini.  I run an XLR line out to a Bose PA.  If you want to experiment a bit, get an A/B/Y box, run one line into an acoustic amp (or direct into a PA), the other into an electric amp - it really gives you a LOT of options.

Best wishes,
Captain Jim

Thanks folks....I was excited to see the quality of advice and comment on this board prior to joining....I hope the T5 ( and some modifications to my playing) will allow me to play for years to come!

Hi Capn Dar. Welcome to the UTGF. I'm betting you live somewhere Down East around the water and listen to Jimmy Buffett on occasion.  8) Enjoy the site.
