Hey there,

My name is Nick and I'm from Arizona. I have been playing guitar for 11 years. I am self taught and enjoy playing very much. I got on this forum to learn more about Taylor guitars and possibly which one might be right for me. I currently don't own one but I am in the process of looking to get one. I have played several at the guitar shop by my house but unfortunately the variety is limited since I dont live in a bigger city. Most of the Taylors that I have played were 100 series, baby taylors or higher end 700 series and above. I really like all of them that I've played but I'd like to try the 300, 400 and 500 series. Other than that I'm looking forward to sharing information with you all.

Welcome Nick!
Taylor's first solid wood guitar is the 300 series and yet I have heard a lot of good things of the 400 series. Find a place with  a 314 and 414 and see what you think.

Hi Nick and welcome! :) Yes, it sure is difficult to make a decision on which model to get when you don't have a chance to play them. At a minimum, I'd suggest checking out some YouTube videos to hear their differences in tonal qualities. Each model is unique in its own way, but most likely one will stand out to you. Nice to meet you. :D

Welcome Nick!  Please enjoy yourself here with us.  The Taylor 300, 400 and 500 do offer in my opion the best bang for your buck if you are not interested in the bell and wissles of the bling.  I hope you get to try some out.  Where I live there are not a big selection either.  What I have done is get in touch with Jim at Guitar Rodeo and he has helped me decide what works for me.  Maybe you could find a dealer that you are comfortable with to do the same.  There are quite a few here that will walk you through the process.

Good to meet you all! Thanks for te input. I was able to play a 414ce Fall LTD With the cedar top and it sounded nice. I guess the guitar shop down the street is supposed to be getting in a selection of Taylors with in the next week. I'm hoping they get some of the regular 314 0r 414 spruce tops in. I'm curious to ear the difference. I'll be on hear looking around quit a bit so once I figure it out I'll post some pics of what I end up with. Have a good day forum friends!
