UTGF YouTube thread....
« on: December 12, 2012, 04:16:45 PM »
Thought it would be fun to have a place where we can post videos, they don't have to be YT.

I'll start, here's one by one of our new members imorroy and her band playing Guantanamara....

I am a light weight.. No video, just a picture, playing blues and caught in the middle of a riff..

Did not play for over 30 years..
Got invited to a little bar, and when the Entertainer decided to take a break, I asked if I could sit in for him.
After the audition, even he applauded..
Everyone was asking why I stopped playing and tempted me to buy a Flat Top.
When I said I was tempted, Chris Hayes (The entertainer) offered to sell me his Guitar for $XXX.00  <-- not a lot, but more than a little, somewhere in the middle of all that.

What I was handed was a Martin, but 12 hours later, on November 5th, I purchased a Taylor.

Here I am playing the Martin.

Sounded better than the picture presents it.

Since then I have purchased four Stratocasters, four Taylors, four amps quite a few books, lots of cables, picks and have actually practiced for five or six hours..
One Taylor I traded back in, just three days later.
Two of the Taylor Guitars are for my older Brothers for Christmas.
November was a fun month of shopping..

What I just uploaded was a mighty short Video (Just one frame) with no sound..

TaylorPlayer516,
Hope you post your video soon...
Playing a Restaurant is different..
Don't think I would have tried that, but the Swizzle Stick in Fort Walton Beach was a lot more forgiving..

I killed them, I tell ya, I killed them..
Actually, it was a small, but lively crowd that had been drinking for a few hours, but I needed the nudge.

Bones was right there cheering me on..
He loves to hang out behind the stage.

Hesitated before posting this - we don't generally play well known songs... and when we do, it isn't 'true-to-the-original' version copy covers. But, this video does show us playing Taylors at a local arts centre in the UK back in 2009 where we had an evening to celebrate our marriage that had taken place a few weeks earlier in the USA.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgH_7ScEZPM

The song is our self-penned "One More Song" which we most times have as the last song in our set.
  • Val is playing "Chalise" - her wedding present 2009 Taylor Custom Jumbo 12-string (Cocobolo/Spruce). It was the first public performance with the guitar since playing it during the wedding ceremony.
  • Jimmy is playing "Rio" - his 2004 Taylor 910CE-L7 (Brazilian Rosewood/Spruce).
Video is a mix of Hi and Standard definition from two different cameras.
Sound is from the built in mic on one of the cameras.

Thank you imorroy, your band sure has rhythm -  as an ex-drummer I really appreciate the addition of percussion to harmony vocals and acoustic guitar. That video looks as though it was quite some gig!

Thanks mgap - do you have any videos?
