Welp, I finally pulled the trigger on a BTO custom GA.

I went back and forth trying to figure out if I wanted a GA or a GS. I've only ever had GA's, so I'm comfortable with them, but I didn't know if I would enjoy the extra volume and different sound that comes with a GS. Ultimately, it came down to Taylor saying they were out of GS tops in Sinker Redwood, but had GA tops available. I've been without a guitar for over a month and I couldn't stand the wait any more.

Here are the specs on what I ordered:
Grand Auditorium
Sinker Redwood top
Macassar Striped Ebony back/sides
natural finish
florentine cutaway
Adirondack CV bracing w/relief rout
Hawaiian Koa, figured binding
Abalone, Paua single ring bound soundhole
Macassar Striped Ebony peghead veneer
Taylor mother of pearl peg head logo
Koa Island vine fretboard inlay
Koa Island vine peghead inlay
Byzantine Presentation bridge inlay
bone nut/saddles
clear pick guard
Expression System

14 weeks!!!!!

I was going to wait to order a koa 12 string but when I went to my local shop, well it had me at hello and after spending an afternoon there I walked out with the K66ce.   :-*

I see you went with the koa series inlay - I think it looks beautiful - I was playing mine earlier today and got all caught up in looking at the inlay and forgot what song I was playing.....lol  Since you had a K24 you know how beautiful the fretboard looks.

Can't wait to see it and hear your impressions.

I'm jealous...though I'm lucky enough to own my dream guitar (614ce), the specs on your BTO are almost identical to my "next" dream guitar if I were to ever get one=)

Congrats, can't wait to hear your take when you get it.  Sound Samples will be a must.

Your specs are very similar. This one has no fancy inlays but everything else is real close. I hope yours turns out wonderful.

That's a beautiful guitar, wow...what finish is that on the body?

I listened to the sound clip several times. I love the sound of it, very balanced, exactly what I thought it would sound like. I love the lows and how it doesn't seem to get muddy.

I'm even more excited to play mine now!

This definitely my dream guitar.

I remember when I saw my first high end custom Taylor, probably 8 years ago. A friend of mine had just gotten it and was telling me all about it and I was mesmerized. I dreamt of someday having a guitar that nice. I think he would agree with me in saying this guitar will surpass his, lol. He sold his long ago anyway. I actually tried to buy it from him, but it wasn't the right timing.

Anyway, I never really thought I would own a guitar like this. I always thought a 914 would be the pinnacle of my Taylor acoustic ownership experience. Then I was introduced to the BTO program. There's something about creating a guitar that is uniquely you, and is pieced together to accomplish exactly what you want from it, and maybe there's something to be said for the process of waiting for it...but all of it together is just something special. Different than just walking into a store and buying a guitar.
So far, I am loving the experience.

It is edgeburst on front and back (very slight) with high gloss everywhere except the neck which is satin.
