I'm the new (51 years old) kid in class
« on: November 06, 2012, 09:25:14 AM »
Hello everyone.

My name is Phil and I live in Wirral, England.

I play a Taylor GS Mini with Esgo fitted. My favourite songwriters are Roy Harper, Richard Thompson, Nick Saloman (The Bevis Frond), and Bill Fay.

I think that the GS Mini is a lovely little guitar apart from one annoying problem. Which takes me to my first post over on the Acoustic froum.

 ;)

Hi Phil,

how nice to see someone from the North West here. Although living in Northumberland, I'm a Scouser born and bred.

I was a bit surprised your post said you live 'in' not 'on' the Wirral  ;)

great to have you here

Greetings Phil,  Welcome to the forum.  Wirral is home of the  Tranmere Rovers Football Club, are you a fan?

Thanks guys.

Mgap, I'm afraid that Tranmere Rovers have made themselves rather unpopular with their plans to build houses on a war memorial: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-20089548

Phil, that is quite shocking news; I'm surprised I've not seen it on the BBC national news. This is sort of thing that you'd expect one of the tabloid newspapers to take-up and campaign over.
Very sad indeed.

Thanks Saxacat. I agree and I've written both to my MP and The War Memorials Trust about it.

We are very proud of our connection with Wilfred Owen and his comrades in this area and those of us who are against the plan will not be giving up easily.

Phil.

Sorry to hear about that.  The planning committee is not in the best interest of the Memorial or community.
