So then, after catching the Taylor-fever (see part 1) I ventured out to find another nylon string. Normally I'm not one for satin finished guitars, but the finish on this 414ceN-FLTD is really nice. Not a real "flat" finish. Has some shine to it...almost translucent. It complements the Tasmanian blackwood very well. The appointments are subtle, but as on the 814, this guitar has a maple binding and that's a very nice classy touch. I also like the maple center stripe on the back. I'm still playing around with the set-up on this one, but it's getting there nicely. The combo of blackwood/ cedar sounds very similar to mahogany/ cedar.
Incidentally, this is absolutely the nicest
smelling guitar I've ever owned. Not sure which wood it is, but I suspect probably the blackwood since I've owned cedar guitars before and I don't remember this sweet smell before. So, without further adieu...here ya go:
