This is an interesting post for me because I am just now considering buying an amp in the next couple of weeks.  I was looking at the fishman loudbox mini but now I'm wondering if the artist wouldn't be a better investment?  $329 verses $499.

Any thoughts???

Yes, I was in the same boat about a year ago ... I settled on the Loudbox Artist because I felt there was real value in the extra features and volume ... if it was just for home use, I'd probably have gone with the Mini ... but the extra features, particularly the ability to DI out from each channel separately or mix and XLR inputs for both channels sealed the deal for me ... both of these are great little amps, clean and easy to get a really nice acoustic sound ...

Thanks - I appreciate that insight.

But here' s a new little twist.  I just stopped by the local guitar store where I take lessons (I should say I have a $200 gift certificate for this store so I kinda want to purchase there!).  Anyway, they don't carry any fishman amps at all.  Here is what they have:

Fender Acoustasonic 150 - $499
Peavey Ecoustic 110 - $349
Peavey 208 - $179.00
Peavey 20 - $119.00

They have bigger ones, but I don't want anything bigger.  I want one to be able to use at home and play out from time to time.

I could just go find a Fishman at a different store and then use my $200 for something else I need.

What do you think?

I play my acoustics through an AAD Cub AG 100 Amplifier after owning several others this is the one that stayed.  Simply amazing in all aspects.

I understand the dilemma ... I also know that if you compromise you might not be happy in the long run ... decide what you like, want and can afford, then get it (coupon notwithstanding) ... as you said, you will always be able to find another use for the coupon ... but don't let that dictate what you get ... my 2 cents based on experience and many failures ...  :o

Nothing beats the "ear test."  Try out the amps in your favorite store, then see what you think of the Fishman offerings elsewhere.  Strings, cords, a pedal or two... you can always find a way to spend that $200 gift certificate.  ;)

The search is part of the fun.

Best wishes,
