New 12 String
« on: June 29, 2012, 02:32:21 PM »
Well I finally pulled the trigger on a new Taylor 356ce 12-string. My first 12-string guitar. Now I know why everyone recommends a Taylor 12-string, it plays easier than some of my 6 strings. It not only looks cool, but the sound is out of this world. Just the right amount of bass to compliment the mid-range and highs. I've always wanted a 12 string but the time just didn't seem right. But I figured hey, why wait! I thought about mail ordering the guitar but I live in Minnesota and decided on buying at the Podium in Minneapolis. A great place to buy...no affiliation with them other than a customer but it's great to spread the good news about a great guitar buying experience. I believe I will have a good weekend!

Hi espgnlo and welcome to the UTGF! Looks like you have an addition to add to your signature (AFTER the weekend is over and you've had some time to bond with your Taylor 356ce)! ;)

I agree completely, bonding with my guitar is what I love to do

CONGRATULATIONS on a wonderful decision!

I didn't even want a 12-string until I happened to try a Taylor GA3-12 at GC on a whim.  As you (and most everyone says) the playability on this model is out of this world!!

Just smooth as butter right out of the box and the GA body size is really comfortable.  I find myself playing practically everything that I used to play (and still play) on my 6-strings on the Taylor 12 and enjoying a whole extra level of sound!  After experimenting with lots of different 12-strings before settling on the Taylor, I honestly do not think I'd buy another make or model ... the little GA3-12 does everyhing I was expecting a 12-string to do and it does it with minimal extra effort on my part.

And did I mention that it stays right in tune with almost no adjustment necessary day-to-day?  30 seconds with the Snark and I'm ready for an entire day in perfect concert pitch!

I sorta love my GA3-12 ...  can ya tell??  ::)

I had a chance to play my new 12 string over the weekend. I couldn't be more satisfied. It is interesting to play songs on a 12 string compared to a 6. What a special sound. I can't believe how easy it is to play. My DN-3 6 string is very similar in woods to this guitar, yet they both have their very own personality. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. And yes Cindy, my signature is now updated! Thanks for all the fine and welcoming comments!

congrats :)
i would suggest to anyone considering a 12 string to give a 356ce a test drive also -
i'm glad it complements the rest of your arsenal well (very nice guitars all, imho)

hope you're having a good weekend :D
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...
