214e problems, signal cutting out, no high end
« on: June 17, 2012, 09:36:34 PM »
I have a 2007 214e that I use very heavily. I've had a number of problems consistently for 4 years or so with the signal cutting out during performances. I always use a new battery and have tried brand new cables and I'll still be playing and the sound cuts out and comes back completely randomly. Overall I feel like I have to absolutely hack at the guitar to get any presence out of it and really I've never been happy with the sound at all. Also for the past year or so I've lost the high end and can't get much treble volume at all even when I turn that knob up. If I'm playing a solo you can't hear anything on the high e and it'll be super loud when I get to the bass notes.

I've never had the time or money to get it properly looked at and a few weak guitar center setups have revealed nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hi derek,
good to see you here
WELCOME !the ES-T has a very small cable from the UST to the preamp &
a CAT 5 style cable going the power supply/output jack -
in terms of the signal cutting out, i would check to verify
that the CAT 5 cable & UST cable are seated completely

low to no signal from the hi e could  be an imbalance of the saddle
on the UST or the UST not being seated correctly (flat) in the saddle slot -
i would suggest calling Taylor Customer Service for their recommendation &
for a referral to the authorized repair center or tech closest to your area

hope this helps

looking forward to hearing more from you :)
