I thought I settled that question but when I showed the image to someone else, rather than say Vincent Price in makeup, she said, a pirate.

That's interesting... I was thinking that it looked like Salvador Dali.  To me, there is a vague resemblance between Price and Dali... or maybe it's just the mustache?   :)
