Taylor Noob
« on: May 11, 2012, 04:12:30 AM »
Helloooooooo!  Just got a used Taylor DN3.  It's my first Taylor and so far I'm pretty happy with it.  It's definitely bright and punchy.

I also bought a really cool humidifier that I highly recommend.  It's a Crafter ghc-200.  Aside from being a humidifier, it reads temperature & humidity levels inside/out of the guitar.  Kinda got worried after hearing about how Taylor Guitars are so prone to humidity damage:(

Welcome to the forum.

Wood is sensitive to humidity fluctuations so all wooden guitars are prone to humidity damage. The lower the strings to the fretboard, the more obvious a guitar's reaction to shifting levels of humidity. Since Taylor guitars are setup for lower action than heritage brands, the erroneous impression has formed that Taylors are more prone to damage from humidity extremes.

Thank you for the warm welcomes.  It's funny how a new guitar makes you wanna play more.  I learned about 5 songs in 2 weeks: More than Words, Under the Bridge, Hey there Delilah, Kiss Me (by my gf's request), Say It Ain't So and I'm trying to learn Heaven by Los Lonely Boys.
