I echo the previous two posts.  I have used mine indoor on carpet, hardwood floors and on concrete.  I've yet to use it on dirt and grass, but have no doubt of the stability.

+1 on the Hercules.  Not cheap but, then again, neither were the guitars you want to hang on it...

Although I use the Taylor stands( Christmas gift) I would like to have one of the Hercules with folding yoke.

I've had a Hercules double stand for about two years now and wouldn't go to a gig without it. It's sturdy and will hold acoustics, electrics, and basses. It's even stable enough to mix and match. Mine is often holding an Ernie Ball Stingray on one side and my acoustic on the other side. Best stand I've ever owned.

Ditto on Hercules. I've got one of their music stands too and it's also a winner.

I'm glad I found this thread.  I've been dragging around a crappy cheap stand for far too long.  I just pulled the trigger on a Hercules double.  What a monster this thing is.  It's going to take a bar brawl to knock my guitars over!
