New Taylor Owner - 2011 Fall Limited Koa
« on: May 07, 2012, 10:46:44 PM »
Hey everyone,

Glad to have found this forum.  I recently visited San Diego and had a chance to tour the Taylor factory.  A friend out there had the 2011 Fall Limited Koa - he kindly let me borrow it and I really fell in love with the tone (and the looks!).  I spent the last 3 weeks trying to locate one - I managed to find 3 (I literally called every Taylor dealer in the country) and last weekend I bought a GA-LTD from Ithaca Guitar Works - it delivers on Wednesday.  Assuming the tone sounds right, it will be mine.  I'm very excited as this is my first Taylor.

I have played guitar for around 3 years - I consider myself a beginner.  I own a Washburn, a Yamaha, a Martin, and now a Taylor.  This will be my most expensive guitar, and it's far beyond my playing abilities - but I hope it inspires me to ultimately play to the level this guitar is worthy of!  I split time between the DC suburbs and Manhattan.

Hi Steve. My first experience with Taylor Guitars was a "borrowed" 2011 814ce. A few weeks later, I bought a 2011 314ce.

Congrats on purchasing your first Taylor (probably won't be your last) and welcome to the site.

Welcome Steve,  I think you will love the sound of the Koa, and they are beautiful as well.

Welcome to the forum, Stevie-

I actually looked up your guitar on Ithaca's website. (It's still there with a sold sign.) The pictures are great- what a beautiful guitar to begin your Taylor journey with! I wish you all the best with it.

God bless...

That's the one, Strumming Fool.  I can't wait to see it in person, as those were not the highest quality pix.  Looks like you are no stranger to Koa yourself.

Yeah, this is my third koa guitar, but my first Taylor koa, and the best sounding one too! (The first was a Santa Cruz and the second was a Larrivee.) The fall limited koa that I played last year had surprising warmth and clarity for a new koa-topped guitar. I think you'll be pleased once you hear it. Don't forget to take some time from playing to send us pics!
