Really, it isn't.
People who aren't "in the industry" seem to view these types of relationships as something more than what they are. Yes, Doyle and Taylor were attached at the hip for years. But they were also two very different entities. Each has to do what they believe is the right thing to do. I'd be willing to bet that the severing of the business relationship, in all probability, is what will save the personal relationship and, at the end of the day, that's more important.
I spoke to some people at NAMM who were offended that Doyle and Taylor had split. They would ask "What did Taylor do to him?", as if there were some sinister plot to harm Doyle somehow; as if Taylor was to be assigned the "blame" for it. Well, that's just silly. Business opportunities, and desires, simply moved them into different directions...
