Post your Taylor at church/P&W !!!
« on: March 30, 2012, 12:59:15 AM »
***GEAR TALK ONLY***

Again, Please only talk guitar.  What Taylor do you play at church or P&W music?

My favorite Taylor to date is 414ce. Simply love it! I think it works best for strumming and picking compared to any other model. Just love it!

I love it so much that I bought two of these in last two days.

When on acoustic, it is my Custom DN (sitka on qulited maple).  But before that, it was my GA7-e.  Oh, and on occasion the 12-string, an RT that's spruce/flamed maple.

love my 616ce... used to love to use my 414ce as well until I sold it... and I personally haven't tried my gs mini myself, but I let a friend borrow it for a service once and he loved it (plugged in with the esgo pickup), he told me it sounded quite nice thru the pa at church

It's not my main guitar, but the Taylor I play at church is a GA8-12 equipped with a Pick-Up The World Dynamic Duo pickup. I think I get a particular wide range out of that pickup, meaning the volume is decent when played quietly but when a song calls for it, the guitar can just roar...

My 315ce (Jumbo).

Highs that cut through the mix, lows that rumble, plenty of mids, crisp attack, plenty of (Taylor) trebly shimmer.

Happiest with the 315ce.

For live P&W music, over the last 8 years or so I have used:

Ovation (USA) Legend(?), Takamine 341SC, Tacoma DR-14C, Tacoma DR-14, Taylor DN4e.

Taylor- 614ce (2012), 315ce (2010)
Martin- DX1 (2009)

Since getting my 814ce in 2010, it has been the only guitar I've played in Church.  I also have a T5, an Alvarez, A Sigma, and I did have a Gibson SG from the early 70's (passed down to my son), all of which I have used in Church at one time or the other.  But currently, the 814ce which I find does anything and all that I have need for :)

I use a GS8e, also.  Many years ago when I started out I used my Guild f212 12-string.  As I began to use finger-picking more than strumming, I bought a GA7 3 years ago.  I love the sound of that guitar, but I got tired of using a microphone with it, so last January I got the GS8e.  Plugged in, I can either finger-pick, or strum, and both sound great through our PA.

I alternate between my 816ce and 714ce, depending on the style of song and how I'm feeling that day.  I always run them fully balanced through the Taylor K4 preamp into the house and occasionally add an MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay pedal to the signal chain if I have another guitarist playing with me.

Just the ES-equipped ones most of the time, except in smaller, more intimate gatherings. My ES-equipped guitars include the Pelican, the 514e and my 2011 BTO (sinker/ovangkol). Overall, the 514e or the Pelican sound good in ensembles, while the BTO is a great guitar for accompanying me when I perform one of my originals.

2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

I have three guitars that I use at church. One twelve string, one dred, and my Tayplor GC6-ES. The Taylor and the twelve string I run through a Roland AC-60 amp. The dred I mic through the PA.

I play an 8 string baritone strung with 6 strings (mediums) and tied d to d.
This allows me to use a capo one the second fret for regular tuning . A quick capo chane allows drop d and lower key changes. I plug into the pa with an xlr cable. Sounds huge.

I use either of my R Taylors.  I run my guitar directly into a mixer which then goes out to the PA.  I use a Taylor balanced output cable.
