W&S Spring 2012 available -- I like what I'm seeing...

...and reading. I think my favorite part was the feature on David Mayfield. Admittedly, I hadn't heard his music before (listening now), but as I'm particularly fond of folksy stuff played by guys with awesome beards (Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes), I was curious. As someone who enjoys making that type of music with a Taylor dreadnought, it was a refreshing read. It also has me very curious about these magical Andy-Powers-revoiced dreadnoughts we've heard about several times now. I need one. (Mr. Swerdfeger, this is your cue to drop some hints...)

As a minimalist and someone who tends to lean for a more vintage aesthetic in guitars, I usually don't get excited about fancy limited models, but the Spring Builder's Reserve offering is pretty darn cool. I know I couldn't afford a single piece, let alone the combo, so I won't even entertain the idea. :)

The limited models look nice -- was hoping for a 3/4 series 12-fret but oh well. :)

Love the 700 series burst in the nylon article.

Lots of nice stuff in the new issue -- excited to get the real thing in the mail!

Man, that European maple is killing me!

But, what does a beard have to do with whatever?

It would seem that a beard helps coax awesome folksy goodness out of a guitar. ;)

David Mayfield is an amazing performer, as are the members of his group:

I'd not heard of them before NAMM but, :o , these guys can kick it...

Just got my copy today....yay!!!!

It's awful thin tho', a sign of the times - it's probably not very cost efficient for Taylor to continue the print issue but I sure like having it in my hands to read rather than reading it electronically.

I hope they keep it in print but we shall see, ok off to grab an adult beverage and read it for the first time....where IS that bottle opener anyway.....

I noticed that ... also, there just doesn't seem to be the same vibe with it compared to previous W&S's (my perception only).  I did like Bob's discussion about possible new things on the horizon (pickups, Andy's new design and improved cases).  But other than that, it didn't seem to be as engaging an issue as I'm used to.

Dennis G should write an article about the forum for the next W&S..maybe we could all contribute a thought or two.

I just got mine and I like it, too.  But I gotta say the euro maple better sound great because it certainly does not look as good as much of our big-leaf amurican stuff :)
Dig the armrest, though!

I apparently got my copy while in Italy...so I come back to a fresh copy of W&S.

They contain a ton of really helpful info....love it!
