Hey gang, Michael told me that my pics were bogging things down. We're working out a solution, but bear with us for the meantime!

I am really enjoying watching this guitar being built.  Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I think this idea is going to work out for the forum. I'm going to put up one post with pics so you can all drool, and then change those pictures to urls when I put up the next set of pictures. That way, you'll all get a chance to see the build right there on the page, but I'll be limiting the bandwidth through the site.

AND . . . to make it even better, I'm posting ALL of the build pics – including the pics I haven't put up in this thread  – at my own website. It's not done yet but I'll be sure to put the link up when it's ready.

Ok, the first draft of the page (with pics, not too much commentary) is loading right now. Here's the link!

Today Brad worked on the truss rod slot and started the purfling and binding. In the first picture, it appears that Brad is drilling some shallow holes that will line up with a jig for routing out the truss rod channel.

This next picture looks like he's hammering a 16 penny nail into the side of the neck. ;) It's just a shallow pin to hold the jig in place on the neck.

Routing out the channel:

Here he's cutting out the strips of material for the binding and purfling:

The strips are ready to be glued up:

And now they are ready for the bender:

Plenty more pics today, as Brad has begun working on the binding. The first pic shows him sanding the sides.

Cutting the slot for the binding along the edge of the cutaway. Note that the bloodwood is showing.

You can see the grooves here that have been routed out for the binding and purfling.

Brad here is taping and blocking in the binding on the back edge.

Gluing up the cutaway binding:

It looks a little messy at this point!

A little neater here:

A nice shot of the back, don't you agree?

Today we have some pictures that are simply breathtaking.

The first photo shows Brad setting the spalted maple purfling into place.

He's gently planing the maple smooth:

The only thing I ever used a scraper for is to remove ski wax, but that probably is not what's going on here:

A little buffing to keep the lower bout glistening:

Getting rid of the ski wax on the binding:

(Really, I'd be terrified to use a scraper . . . but I'm pretty clumsy!)

And here it is with the purfling all set in.

Posing for the glamour shots . . . :

And more! The spalted maple is simply stunning on these woods:

And now we move to the neck. First up, trimming the headstock to thickness:

And gluing on the facing:

the maple does look really nice.  It's a beautiful build, I'll bet you can't wait for it to come to you.
