Pic from Friday Night's Gig
« on: March 25, 2012, 10:57:06 AM »
Thought I'd share a picture of the set up from Friday night's show at a local restaurant/pub (The Village Squire, South Elgin, IL)...

http://www.twicebakedmusic.com/images/squire-1.jpg

It's a little stage in the corner of the bar - Tight, but I love the way it looks.  I brought my T5 and T5-12 (standard fare for these shows),  Pedaled to easily go electric (Boss GT-10) or acoustic direct to board.  My performing partner brought his standard Wechter Mahogany/Cedar (Another great guitar, very Gibson-esque in tone).

Good crowd, and a lot of fun!

Yes, cozy.  Looks fun.

I love it! But I'd definitely worry about tripping. :)

I see three guitars and four guitar cases...

The fourth is Andy's backup, an old Seagull Folk model.  Sometimes he tunes it in DADGAD and does a couple, but it spends most of the time in the case...

No tripping worry because there's not enough room to move beyond the mic stand...   ;)

It looks like a lot, but actually very manageable.  My setup is...:

---------------
Balanced (TRS-XLR) output cables from T5 & T5-12 --> Radial Balanced A/B box --> Taylor Balanced Breakout Box (Signal output split to...)

Balanced out --> Direct to mixer/PA (Acoustic tone)

Tuner (Unbalanced) out --> Boss GT-10 multi-effects board --> DI --> PA (electric tones)

Vocals are Sennheiser e-855 dynamic mic direct to mixer.
---------------

Andy uses a Digitech G3 pedal on his guitar and has a Boss vocal effects pedal for delay/reverb on his vox.

A single 5-outlet power strip sits between us for front line power.
-------------

On solo gigs or when there's no house system, I use my Bose L1 system.  when playing alone, I'll use the T1 ToneMatch mini mixer to handle my gear.  When Andy & I are together, I sub the T1 with a Mackie mixer.  That gets to be a bit spaghetti like, as we'll sometimes also add a percussionist to the mix which requires additional mics and cables...

Here's a shot from one of those shows.  In this case, we were pure acoustic, so I went with the 12 fret GC, T5-12, and a Mandolin.  No effects pedals, but added a PADI for the Mando...

It is a great look. If a photographer were to stage something similar for the purposes of, say, a magazine ad, he couldn't have improved on it.

Gee, Steve.  I never knew you cared so much about my safety.  It's a strange feeling...  Like... I... I, um, okay... how do I say this... I love you too...  There - I said it!  Is it wrong?

Hey!  Who stole all my cables?

Thanks, Herb!  You can stop by anytime!   (Can you teach my kids how to clean their rooms too?)   :D
