Crack
« on: March 16, 2012, 09:05:11 AM »
I just bought a used 2010 Taylor 814ce.  Had it for a day and realized it has is a finish crack at the purfling, on the top, at the bottom of the bout.  It is about 5/8" long.

What is your opinion about this.  Should I keep it, will it grow.  It is a beautiful guitar, sounds wonderful, and I like it.  However what if it becomes a problem down the line.  As I said I bought it used.

Take some photos of it. I don't mean crappy cell phone photos but good, high resolution digital photographs. Then call Taylor Customer Service and ask if you can e-mail the photo(s) to them. Normally a finish crack isn't a problem, but you want to be sure. Let them make that call, as they're happy to do that.

If you can post a photo here, folks might be able to opine more, but definitely get some shots to Taylor...

Ditto Steve. It takes looking at a lot of cracks to know a bad one. ;)
