Foot switch to control YouTube lessons?
« on: October 22, 2022, 03:26:41 PM »
Like a lot of guitarists, I occasionally watch YouTube lessons in order to learn a song.  It's a little inconvenient to have to reach my iPad by hand, so I'm wondering if there's such a thing as a foot switch that will allow me to rewind the video, say, 10 seconds or more.  That would be really helpful by allowing me to watch the same passage over and over.

My wife used the Air Turn foot pedals to change pages on her iPad via Bluetooth.  Her sheet music for flute is stored as PDF's in ForScore, and the pedals work very well for page turning.  I've never heard of them being used to start and stop video loops, but the idea is pretty cool.  She is out of state for a few days, but when she gets back home I can ask her if she knows anything about that.  She is my IT department, especially with Apple devices.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.

Won't work for an iPad, but for PC users, there's an app that can be used to download a YouTube video, and then another called Transcribe which can let you have full control over the video.

Same here.  I've used an AirTurn pedal to turn pages on UnrealBook (ipad) for many years now.  Indispensable for live use.

Just thought I'd provide an update to this conversation:  I contacted the AirTurn company to ask if the rewind/fast forward feature exists on any of their products ... and was told that it exists on ALL of them, but that the user needs to contact the company to learn how to program this feature.

Thanks for asking about this! Had always wondered myself, and 3 minutes of Google searching led me to this pedal. I ordered it and just got it today. (The 15% Halloween sale pushed me over the edge.) A huge time saver that I know will encourage me to learn and practice more! So easy (and fun) to use, but has everything you need to start, stop, slow down, loop, etc. Not inexpensive, but unique and built well, so to me worth it.
