Taylor custom order

Hello folks, I’ve just placed an order through a dealer here in Rome, Italy, for a Taylor 814c tobacco sunburst without electronics, it seems that the turnaround time is about 12/16 weeks. All in all, the only modifications requested are the sunburst top and the absence of the ES2, so it doesn't seem very far from normal production. Has anyone recently ordered directly from Taylor?
what were the waiting times?

It was about 12 weeks last late summer/fall for a 322e that wasn’t technically a custom order, FWIW

Bottom line is that it's a custom order... it's a one-off not in their normal production plan and is managed/produced as such. This lead time is typical.

This lead time is typical.

I believe that this has been the typical lead time since the pandemic. I have placed several orders for fully custom guitars and model modifications over the years. The typical commitment back then was about eight weeks. Don't know whether they'll be able to achieve that turnaround time commitment in the future....

wow, that lead time doesn’t seem too bad. when i did a modify a model in 2011, it was about 16 weeks to order a 914Cce but with a cedar top instead of sitka

im surprised they’re able to pump yours out so quickly. they were heavily backlogged during the pandemic - so hopefully yours comes soon?

i’ve had two guitars on order from another company since march 2020, my electric amp took over 1 year.

i asked about ordering a custom martin with cocobolo, their lead times are into late 2023…

so hopefully that helps you feel like you’re not singled out

while talking to the store manager he told me that Taylor is the fastest company for custom orders.  that same day, a custom order from Martin had just arrived, it took him about 7 months of waiting time.

Taylor has really good turnaround times for special orders compared to most companies.

Just arrived! just today it's 16 weeks from the order! Soundwise, this has more volume and low frequencies than my 2021 814e, which is a bit strange given that the cutaway "should" take something away from the sound…so, in the end I’m very happy!
