Title: Strap buttons on classical guitars
Post by: Jersey tuning on June 11, 2018, 02:55:10 PM
I've recently reacquainted myself with my classical guitar, which I generally play occasionally in a very un-classical way.  I think I would play this instrument much more frequently if it had strap buttons.  How does the forum feel about adding strap buttons to a classical guitar?  Will it significantly diminish the guitar's value (the instrument is an Alhambra 11C, which is the top of their production line not made by a single luthier)?  Has anyone added buttons previously?

I have to use a strap with every instrument these days (even playing seated) and I add them whenever needed.  It may not be "traditional" for the classical world, but what good is a guitar that I cannot play?

If you do it carefully, it is possible to remove them later and plug the holes with matching wood.

Sage advice.

Alhambra texted me with photos of the right way to add buttons to a classical guitar.  Can pass them along if anyone is interested.
