Title: Taylor’s 2 3/16 saddle spacing
Post by: miksel on January 21, 2018, 09:28:40 AM
Good Morning to Everyone.Quick question to the Fingerstyle players here. I have a bit larber(read thicker fingers) than average and play almost exclusively fingerstyle. I also play primarily with the pads of my fingers with just a hint of nail. It would be a dream come true to see Taylor come out with an option of 2 5/16 string spacing at the saddle. Does the current 2 3/16 pose a challenge to anyone else like myself or do more advanced players adjust to whatever they pick up? Respectfully,Mike S

I adjust, but I use National fingerpicks. So I can't relate to using just fingers (pads/nails).

I try to play a lot of finger style on my guitars. I also wish Taylor would open up that spacing at the saddle. That being said, I find that for my hands the 1 7/8 nut option with wider spacing..is far more helpful than the saddle spacing. My 518e has the 1 3/4 neck and is harder for me to play cleanly than the GS7 which has the 1 7/8 neck. ( My Guild 12 string has a full 2 1/2 inch saddle spacing and is very easy to play fingerstyle...at least on the saddle end of the guitar anyway .... 😅 )
