Title: battery life question
Post by: gscratch on January 14, 2018, 11:06:47 PM
I have a 2012  310ce that I play every day, not plugged in.

I plug it in every other week for about 2 hours at a gig.  The battery only lasts about 4 - 5 hours total which seems short to me.
Is this the battery life that others have seen ?

Thanks

No, you should be getting about 40 hours out of a 2012 ES system.

When you say the battery lasts between 4 and 5 hours, are you referring to actual playing time or plugged in time?  You may already know this, but since the system features a preamp, it's drawing power whenever it's plugged in.

1. When you gig, is the guitar sitting on a stand beforehand, as well as during setbreaks, still pluged in?  Just as Dennis said, a cable plugged into the guitar counts as "on" so you need to account for those moments in your overall use. FWIW, I always unplug ...always.
2. Are you using a good alkaline such as Duracell or Energizer?

If you're good with the above, then yessir, you've definitely got something wrong going on with the preamp.

thanks for the replies.

I usually plug in during the sound checks and unplug when packing up, so it's plugged in during the entire time; usually two hours or so for the gigs we've been doing recently.

I'll contact Taylor Customer Service.

I have an 812e with ES1.3 retro-fitted. I play it plugged in virtually every night for an hour, very occasionally I might choose another guitar, but that's the exception. I've noticed that my batteries last about a month, give or take - 4 or 5 hours sounds wrong. Are you using decent batteries, like Duracell coppertops? If so, I'd have the electrics checked out at your local Taylor service centre.

I've played my T5z daily since early April. Still ticking along, as they say....

I do unplug the cord before I set it back in the stand, however.
