Title: No more 210 models?
Post by: lmacmil on December 30, 2017, 03:36:18 PM
Was on the Taylor site today looking at 200 series and they only show 214 models.  Have they discontinued 200 series dreadnoughts?  (Apologies if this has been discussed.  Did not see it.)

I am only seeing the 214ce, 214ce DLX,214 K-DLX.  They might be updating the lineup and this is what they have left, not sure.

Maybe give Customer Service a call and see for sure. With Taylor always updating their site, it can sometimes be confusing and misleading. I had a question from looking at their site the other day and got the answer I was seeking by calling Customer Service.

Yep - looks like they're a thing of the past. I wonder why?

Just a guess, but dreads are not Taylor's bread and butter. They still have a 110 and probably see no reason to make two low price, low sales volume dreads.

That's too bad.  I thought he 210 Dlx was a very attractive, low cost alternative to the higher up models.

I would not get too concerned till after NAMM.  This is the time of year changes happen.

I think the 210 DLX was one of my favorite Taylor models.  If it had a 1-3/4" nut, I’d still have it.  With the standard neck, I think it would canabalize sales of their higher end guitars.  It was too good.  :-)

Sidenote: Recently, I had picked up a used '16 210Dlx off of reverb ...got a crazy-great price so I figured I can't miss; and that it has full gloss and full electronics was major bonus.  Sure, it's a quick grab-n-go guit with low risk, I mused, and then clicked buy.  But shazammm...I really dig this guitar!  I've played other 100/200s and they are all typical stellar Taylor playability and solid tone, but this 210 is unduly good in its own right, let alone for the price I got it for!  And FWIW to my ears, I prefer it over my son's 314 ...apples/oranges I know, but this humble guit really delivers tone and girth.

All to say that if one is looking for a good dred that isn't "one of those" dreds, the 210 is a superb guitar ...and for my money, find a Deluxe. Incredible bang-for-buck these guitars are used vs what new buys you today ...even Taylor's new offerings ;)
