Hi all. I live in the US, and have never been to Europe.
I am half Irish, and have always wanted to visit Ireland some day.
I may try to go this year with my family. Has anyone visited there?
Any tips to see the sights without spending a small fortune?

Make sure you get to the village of Doolin, where there are local pubs featuring pick-up bands of musicians who sometimes welcome "outside" guitar players. Some great sights in that region of Ireland include the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands, and the stark landscape of the Burren, all in County Clare, just below Galway.

Any particular destinations in mind? As with most places, the bigger the city, the more expensive it is. People are generally very friendly and the Guinness is next to goodness.
When I was in Europe courtesy of the US Army 45 years ago, I spent a few weeks touring the south coast from Rosslare (Cuan Ros Láir) on the east coast to Killarney (Cill Airne) in the west. Had a grand time, including a visit to Blarney Castle's Blarney Stone.
Last August went with part of my family to the west central part through the counties of Clare (Contae an Chláir), Galway (Contae na Gaillimhe), Roscommon, (Contae Ros Comáin), and Tipperary (Contae Thiobraid Árann). Having attended college in Galway, my wife has a lot of friends there. Attended a wedding (a 3 day party in Ireland) on the Tipperary side of Lough Derg. A grand time was had by all.
Planning to attend another wedding this summer near Dublin, which will also involve some ad hoc visiting and touring through parts (un)known.
Where in Massachusetts are you? I'm in Boston.
Aer Lingus has direct flights form Boston to Shannon or Dublin.

Reading how many places you've been in Ireland honestly has gotten me quite jealous.
I wish I had that experience. I am not sure yet where I want to go. I really want to visit
all the best places, but money is real tight, so sadly I will have to limit myself..

The Ring of Kerry is a popular destination, basically a peninsula, with Killarney near the base. Lots of B and B's to stay in, lots of small villages with delicious cheap eats.

You may want to visit Donegal and see how Emerald guitars are made! Might come home with an Emerald Isle treat.

I second that. Lowden still makes their guitars by hand. Would love to have a chance to meet George and see the shop. Seems very mystic to me.
