We did this same thread for 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 NGD's (new guitar day):
2013 - 118 reported NGD's
2014 - 169 reported NGD's
2015 - 112 reported NGD's
2016 - 160 reported NGD's
This is for 2017 NGD's, which includes Taylors AND non-Taylors. It can be new or new-to-you (used).
BE SURE TO NUMBER YOUR GUITAR IN YOUR POST (i.e. #xxx), TO KEEP THE COUNT GOING. If the member does not number their guitar in their post, I will modify their post to add the number, so we all can see the count.
ALSO, LETS KEEP THIS THREAD JUST AS A COUNT.....PLEASE PUT ALL OTHER DISCUSSION ABOUT THESE NEW GUITARS IN SEPARATE THREADS (we encourage NGD threads). OTHERWISE THIS GETS TOO COMPLICATED AND CONFUSING (PICTURES ARE GREAT TO SEE). THANKS.

#1: Just happened today! :) Bought a 2015 714ce, cherry sunburst. I hope I will be happy with it compared to the revoiced 700 series. ( so I won't compare it...)Couldn't resist it! Wasn't really planning to buy anything but... Happy New Year to me!

2009 Gibson Melody Maker
A couple of days ago I could swear that I had enough guitars now,
but then this Melody Maker came along with my name on.
Got it dirt cheap, could not pass it by. :)
Can you have too many books in a library?
No wonder my wife call our home a GAS Station :)

Just had an email to say that my 712ce has been delivered to my office! Now I'm preparing for the longest afternoon in history, knowing it's sat in a box in reception waiting for me to collect on my way home!!

New member here, first Taylor, membership prompted by this self-referenced NGD.
214ce QM DLX. Ordered a few days prior to end of 2016, but arrived after the new year.
It is highly probable, based on past performance, that this will not be the only NGD for me this year. I bought 3 guitars in 2016, and that was a "drought" for me compared to 2014 and 2015...

My brand spankin' new 2016 Taylor 412e-R LTD arrived. Ordered from Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto CA (shout out). Fast easy service, included basic set-up (I did tighten the truss rod a 1/4 turn; I prefer lower action). This was one of the last 2016 LTDs available. For several reasons I had high hopes for this one, and it certainly has delivered. The build quality is flawless, and the unique tone blends well with my voice (baritone; folk, folk rock, light country). It is well balanced either fingerstyle or light strumming or picking. It's plain, simple and a solid performer.

#18 214CE Dlx. While my 814CE is at the Taylor shop in El Cajon being upgraded with ES2 and other minor things, I was having "Taylor withdrawals". I had the bucks and got 15% discount, so, why not??? And I was very pleasantly surprised at the excellent tone, brightness and sustain of this guitar! Way to go Taylor, this is my 4th! I WILL post pictures tomorrow.

2005 Taylor Grand Concert 512ce L10
Mahogany top, back, and sides
Used, in stunningly near mint condition; a huge thank you to its previous owner
Played quite a few GC's recently, including new, used, 12 fret, limited, presentation, and various combinations and permutations of those. I knew this was the one about as soon as I first played it. Incredible sound and ease of play. Been playing it pretty much since I got it earlier in the day.
Many personal firsts here:
First Grand Concert (ever)
First Acoustic cutaway (as opposed to electric)
First Acoustic mahogany (a major wood component of a Gibson Les Paul)
First Taylor Limited Edition (my rosewood J 200 is also a Limited)
So while it may be true that, as the guys sang, (Money) Can't Buy Me Love,
I like to think that sometimes you can find happiness when it's well spent.

I thought the NGD thread was for Taylors only until someone told me otherwise.
Here's mine--my first NGD in about 3 years and probably my last for a very long time:
I know this is a Taylor forum, and I'm a proud and happy owner of a Taylor 314ce, but I just had to make this post about my NGD--(drum roll, please)--Martin D-18!
My wife and I were in Charleston and I decided to check a mom and pop shop I'd never been to before. I had no intention of buying anything, but after trying a bunch of super nice Taylors (500 series and up; the 814ce Deluxe was awesome), I focused on the D-18. I've been GASsing for one for a couple of years (ever since I took the factory tour in Nazareth), and had played quite a few and really liked them all. It was almost closing time and the guy asked me what I thought and I told him I really liked the D18.
He said, "Why don't you take it home? Here's what I can do--." I know all about MAP pricing and "real price" and I'll just say I got a really good deal. I discussed it with the wife for a few minutes and after realizing she was not going to divorce and/or kill me, we did the deal.
I put on new strings (Elixir 80/20 Med). I've always used PB but the store was out so they gave me these to try. I've been playing lights or HD Lights (on my Taylor) for several years, but so far the Mediums don't seem to be holding me back from performing the lighting fast three-chord campfire songs I mostly play.
I tweaked the setup slightly and played it a bunch yesterday. I think I'm really going to like this a lot. I guess you could say I'm "stuck" with 2 really great guitars. 8)

#39 - 2017 Taylor 714CE LTD
I bought this guitar yesterday at the Taylor Roadshow. It was built Mar 21, 2017. Torrified Spruce top and Koa back and sides.
It sounds awesome, like any Taylor, falls between 814ce and 514ce, acoustically too.
-
That looks great, arunakalu! Interesting wood combo, too. Can you describe the sound?

Since I bought 814ce and 514ce, I hadn't decided what sounds better, but then I realized depending on my song choice (I'm a singer), I select my guitar. Then when I "met" 714ce with torrefied lutz spruce top and koa back-sides, it just fell in between the acoustic of the previous two. Beautiful top end shimmer, not as bright as 814ce and good low end (again not as deep as 814ce) and great mids similar to 514ce. Feels like best of both worlds and looks like it is an all-rounder guitar for me.

This is indeed a wonderful instrument. I am a big fan of the new 700 series (and have both 712e 12 fret and 712ce-N) and have been thinking of adding this one to the lineup.
Other than the 12 strings, all of the appointments are standard for the 700 series.

Can a NGD be just a new Taylor guitar acquisition...not necessarily a brand new guitar?
Just curious...'cause then I have a nice NGD to share.
BUT I also did buy a new Taylor the week before. Curious, I just happened to find some things I like.

I bought this very guitar from the shop where this video was shot...and I mean, this very guitar! After getting it home yesterday, I was Googling reviews and saw the salesman playing this....when he showed the back, the figure in the cherry was a dead match. He's playing my guitar.
It's a wonderful little guitar, light as a feather ...seriously I weighed it: 3 pounds, 1 ounce, and it's got to be the easiest playing guitar I've ever owned. It's the ultimate couch guitar but you can drive it hard and it still sounds great. Notes bend themselves....I LOVE IT!

Yes indeed, one of the Government Issue II Flying Vs. This specimen is in good shape and has the signed certificate along with the factory check list, the secret Gibson codes and a map to the Fortress of Solitude. As soon as I gas up the V, I am flyin' to the north pole.

Well, another week and another visit from the UPS Truck of Love. Once again, the intrepid driver of the Big Brown Truck has found his way to my secluded and pastoral retreat somewhere north of Oxford and this time he has produced an old Ovation 1868 Elite. This particular item was made in 1992 and it is showing its age. It has a couple of scars, a scuff or three and even a nick or two. I am going to head down to the bustling metropolis that is Raleigh NC and let "My Guy" take a look at it and see what sort of miracles he can perform. Pictures? I thought you might never ask.

I've never gone to any guitar shows or demos. In fact, I don't really know too many other players despite my incredible interests and long term playing (50 + years ). I walked away from a Taylor Roadshow a week ago with this T5 Cocobolo
Yep....love it
-
Make me #87, although had I been more with it, more likely I`d be somewhere in the middle 40`s..
After a first test-flight on a T5 at NAMM in 2012, I found myself seriously GAS-sing for one. A second test run in the middle of the Pacific Ocean two years later only solidified the cravings when I was lucky enough to spend a quarter hour with a Koa example of the then brand-new T5z.
Long story short- I went to a Road show in April of this year near my home and came back with this lovely mahogany example, which has pride of place in the stand by the china cabinet, where my long-suffering guitar widow wife likes that it "fits in better" with the china cabinet than the previous denizen, my Ric 370/12.

Just got my grandfather's 1982 Martin HD-28. It's a real family heirloom. I need to get it fixed up and ready to play, but hopefully I can pass it on to my grand kids someday (but not until after I'm done playing the heck out of it, though!). Some people (like my wife) may think of it as just "another guitar" but to me it's part of my family history.

My new Taylor 712ce 12-fret finally arrived after 3 months! It was definitely worth the wait. What's more, Taylor threw in a free polo shirt as a goodwill gesture for the delivery later than originally estimated. I never even complained! 🙂

The 712 rosewood definitely looks more pleasing aesthetically. I'm liking the sound too 🙂

My forever guitar, an 814ce DLX First Edition. Sweetwater commissioned 50 of these and I was fortunate to get my pick. I think I did well. 8)
In addition to the Series 800 Deluxe features (radial armrest, adirondack bracing, and Gotoh tuners), Sweetwater used select Honduran rosewood and the First Edition also adds a MOP headstock inlay and First Edition-badged hard case. In fact, in a nice, unexpected touch, they used Honduran rosewood for the armrest, rosette and pickguard as well.
I added one thing - fossilized walrus ivory bridge pins. They give it an old school look and really match well with the light maple binding used. (photo below)

I made a road trip to Greensburg, Pa to see King Crimson on November 20th. We got up there a day early and had all day Monday to kill before the show started, so we hit every guitar store in the area. This extremely minty Telecaster came home with me.

#125 Eastman E10D-TC Dreadnaught with solid mahogany back and sides and Thermo-cured Adirondack top. Great guitar but the "thicker-than-Taylor" neck made my bad thumb joint hurt so I returned it within a week for a full refund.
Does this still count??
