My name is Ray Teel and I am from the Houston, Texas area. I currently have a Larrivee Guitar forum III. It is a 00 size European spruce over rosewood. I also have a Larrivee OM-05, a Martin D-28 Marquis and a D-35. I have had one Taylor in the past, a GSA-5, which was cedar over mahogany. I am currently hunting for my next Taylor which will be a 812e. I have fallen in love with the 00 and concert size guitars, probably more so since I am now 58 years old and find the dreads a little big for my shoulder, arms and stomach.

Hi Ray. Welcome to the UTGF. We have our fair share of Taylor GC owners around here. A friend of mine let me play his HD-35 a few months ago. He enjoyed it more than me. ;) I'm starting to sample a few Martin's here and there. Enjoy your search.

Welcome Ray. I have a 512ce cedar/mahogany GC. I'm a fingerstyle player, for which it really fits the bill. The GC's are comfortable guitars that actually have big voices for their size. Not really designed for heavy strumming though.

Welcome to UTGF, Ray. My last guitar hunt was "open", in that I had no idea what I was looking for. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted a big acoustic, and I ended up with my first Taylor, an 816ce - objective achieved! But I was almost seduced at the last minute by the maple 614. You know what you're after in your hunt, and you haven't asked for any advice, but here's my 2 cents worth anyway :-) Be sure to check out the new 600 too - they're every bit as good as their big brothers...

Welcome. I, too, am a fan of smaller sized guitars. I own a Tacoma "Parlor" (Sitka/Koa), Taylor custom GC (000 sized--my most frequent "go-to" guitar), Froggy Bottom "C" (00 sized), and a Martin 2-17, which is barely over 12" at its widest.
A Taylor 812 is a great choice.

Well I guess I am not the only one that hit 58 and found the shoulders preferred the GA size. Welcome to the forum 800rate. The 812 is a very, very nice guitar. The size you will be very comfortable and the sound is awesome.
