Having some fun with dyed bone bridge pins from Bob Colosi and Madagascar rosewood tuner buttons from LMI!

Really classy touches. I wonder if you can replace the buttons on standard Taylor tuners?

Well, see the screw on the end of the tuner button? Screwdriver is all that is needed. Careful though, there are two small washers on the end that like to jump off and hide themselves. You can see them in the photo above. (The plastic one goes on first, then the metal one if you need to put them back on.)
I guess I'd be more interested in "sizing" for "replacement" buttons. Is there a typical "size" to replace them? Shaft diameter, length, etc.

The buttons I'd be I terested in customizing are standard Taylor tuners on a 324ce-K. I only saw buttons for Gotoh and Schaller on the LMI site. Where would I get buttons for Talor tuners? Any idea?

Typically, Grover style tuner buttons will fit Taylor's tuners. If you do a search, you'll find several websites that offer Grover replacement buttons. Unfortunately, most reputable sites don't offer a lot choices outside of ebony, but it's worth a bit of your time to see for yourself.

Yeah, gotta make them your own I say. Even on my new custom GC, I have ebony pins with abalone inlays (Taylor pins) on order. The abalone will match the fretboard dots, replacing the plain ebony ones. And speaking of my custom, I'm digging the Gotoh 510s on it. So, will soon be upgrading my K24ce to those in antique gold. Haven't decided on the knob color yet, but the custom already has gold knobs, so may go the black route on the K24ce.

I bought some rosewood buttons from http://www.nicholsinlay.com/ to match the rosewood trim on my 714ce FLTD.
As GuitarSan say's it's an easy job but Bill Nichols does recommend taking the string tension off first.

And speaking of my custom, I'm digging the Gotoh 510s on it. So, will soon be upgrading my K24ce to those in antique gold. Haven't decided on the knob color yet, but the custom already has gold knobs, so may go the black route on the K24ce.
I had originally ordered my K24e with antique gold Gotohs with black buttons. They look really nice, and feel good to the touch. Just my $.02

I notice that nicholsinlay does not use a metal insert on the rosewood model. Is that going to be an issue with wear over time?

Mine have only been on for a few months so I don't know about wear, they do look good though and there's no sloppy feel without the insert.

When I wanted Gotoh tuners for my 12 I called Taylor and they told me to go to Stew-Mac.com .They not only look classy but really tune nice I find, smooth and real fine tuning .
