Title: Taylor road show prices?
Post by: Jayssan on March 09, 2014, 03:24:13 PM
Hi folks,

I'll be attending my first Taylor road show at a shop in Daytona next week. I'm curious about pricing at these events. Are they sold at retail map? Any special incentive to buy on the spot?

thanks in advance for any answers !

I'm not exactly sure.  However, last fall I was planning to attend a Taylor Road show at a guitar store in Orlando.  (I can't recall the name of the store but it was not GC or Sam Ash.)  I was discussing what I was looking for with a store representative and he offered to fax me their show price list.  The savings were a good deal off of the "Minimum Advertised Price" and well below the list price.  However, life got in the way and I never made it to the show.  Maybe this year I'll see the one in Ocala or Clearwater!

Typically there is some type of discount or "show" price.  I would imagine the shop would work with you on a reasonable discount.

I've been told each store gets to choose whatever discounted pricing they want to offer. I've only ever seen the prices below MAP for Road Shows and Taylor events.

I'm not sure if I was at road show or find your fit, might have been the latter, but I think I remember the store who sponsored the affair may have offered a small discount for purchasing on the spot.

I bought at discount at a Guitar Center-hosted roadshow a custom GC buit expressly for roadshow sale, which is consistent with typical Guitar Center Taylor pricing.  A great value, I might add.

The first Roadshow I attended the shop produced a list showing the prices for every Taylor Guitar for that evening, with significant discounts. The discounts were that good, I walked away with my GA-Ke. The next show I went to, at a different store, there was no discount; instead the store were offering store vouchers to a percentage of the guitar price, but only if you spent over a certain amount. The last Roadshow I attended, different store again, was offering discount 'deals, to be negotiated!'

So I believe it is basically what the store wants to do. Regardless of the discounts, I've enjoyed every Roadshow though  :)

I assume the ban on referencing store prices or discounts on this thread is to not create sale advantages for one vendor over another and maintain the objectivity of this forum.  N'est pas?

The discounts should be better than the shop prices which should be significantly less than theTaylor list price already. Taylor dealers do not seem to discount as deeply as Martin but the discounts are still significantly less than the Taylor suggested retail prices....Thank goodness!!
As a rule, the higher price of the guitar, the more room for movement.

I got to thinking about these roads shows here lately .When it comes to the price of Taylor's .Think of what they do,like send guys out on the road to educate customers then they give out strings and shirts to boot .And besides all that they are very heavy in the protection of trees, environment  and such .I myself I'm a bit fan and I think I have a good right to be.

we'll see what they got tomorrow evening, provided they don't all float, or get blown, away -
supposedly nasty weather ahead with severe thunderstorms, possible flooding & tornadoes

i'd better go get the yard mowed before it happens ...

I had an experiance last year while attending a road show where the dealer hosting to show had a K24ce that really attracted me and the price was marked WELL below advertised prices anywhere. I wasn't as keen on that particular guitar's grain pattern so hesitated to buy and did some on line shopping.  I did find a K24ce on line that was very appealing to me and when I called that dealer, I found that they were able to come real close to the price that i saw at the road show. Needless to say, I ordered the one on line!

There are special incentives for the dealer at least in my experience. I would look at between XX-XX% of list price.
I have always paid a price XX% less than list.
Good hunting.

the last Road Show i attended had zero, zip zilch, nada (read "no") discount below MAP -
there were some NOS/discontinued models that were discounted slightly, but the
discount was not as deep as other dealers every-day $ on current models i've seen ...
& yes, it was possible to negotiate a deal to purchase an in-stock guitar without a case

this one needed a little help :(

Every road show I've attended sold one offs and limiteds at the normal store discount off MSRP. That's how I got my one-off sinker/eir GC.  Looking forward to the next local show this coming Wednesday.
