Title: Cable query...TRS - XLR....
Post by: Thumb Picker on August 04, 2012, 11:55:28 AM
Reading the Taylor ES system brochure that came with my 714ce, I see where Taylor recommends using a balanced cable setup with TRS to guitar and  XLR to amp....pa etc...

My question is ;
Is Taylor referring to 42 v phantom powered XLR or power off XLR?

My gut tells me the correct choice would be the powered off XLR input since the ES system is already powered by the 9v battery.

However, I am a total novice when it comes to amp systems and cable hookups etc, since I've always played small venues where I was using either plain acoustic or into a mike.

I've just bought a Tascam DP-008 and want to record a little bit, so I'm now trying to get up to speed on
noise reduction, proper  cable connections ...etc

Thanks for your patience and input,
It's much appreciated!!

Hi Hawk,

You are correct. ES system does not require phantom power.
