Title: Greetings from Powder Springs, GA and Merry Christmas

I'm glad I was invited to participate in thuis forum. I recently bought my first Taylor - an 814ce. I got it on Black Friday. It is getting lots of play time. I've been playing since I was about 10yrs old. Music was the best gift my mom ever gave me. It's a gift that keeps on giving! When I graduated from college (1981) my mom bought me the guitar of guitars - a new 1980, Westerly-built Guild D-50. It is a hard guitat to beat! I still have it and love every note. I wanted something different and with a cut-away, and now I am the happy owner of another fine guitar with the 814ce.

hi Jim,

i can relate to the gift of music coming from your mom -
my mom did the same for me & i made sure that she knew
how grateful i was for that, right before she went home (bc)

finding a new note or chord progression is what make an instrument, like guitar, exciting to me too,
because in that 'where did that come from' moment, it makes everything seem 'new' all over again

Glad you asked.  I started using "roadbiker" as a result of my other passion - cycling, roadbiking to be more specific. I have a Canondale and two Italian bikes (both with full Campagnolo Record grouppo) from Tommasini. When I bought my newest one, I went to Italy to have if fitted and built specifically for me. I used to ride about 5-6,000 miles/year, but now I do between 2,000 and 3,000 per year.  I like long distance endurance rides. Time seem to be at a premium as I get older and also spend more time with my guitar and all the other stuff I do. I also do a bit of mountain biking and have 2 mountain bikes: a Trek hardtail and a fully suspended Canondale on which I have competed in several 24 hour moutain bike races (in NJ).

But in the last 10 years, "roadbiker" has adopted another meaning as I got into motorcycling and am a happy owner of a 2004 Victory Kingpin cruiser (even more American made than Harley Davidson).

Glad to be here. AND the 100th member! Do I get a free pick holder? :-)

Now I think I'll play my Taylor for a little while - I'm learning Christmas music.

Welcome aboard.  From reading your introduction, it appears you have a passion for music and guitar.  Your post reflects your love for the gift your mom gave you and music itself.  Enjoy with each of us this new Forum....

Ahh...so THIS is our 100th member! Thanks for reminding us, Michael! Welcome Jim! :) You are fortunate in being able to start the guitar at only 10 years of age. I bought a cheapie guitar when I was in junior high, but I only had a book to learn from. Wish I could have found a guitar teacher back then.

The 814ce is a VERY popular guitar in the Taylor lineup. Congratulations on a beauty! 8)
