My next lesson I'm supposed to sing. Just me and my guitar teacher to be in the room. I guess if I'm ever to sing solo to others, l have to start somewhere. A simple song, "My Sweet Lady" by John Denver. I'll let you know how it went. For now, I'll be practicing.

Enjoy the moment - it's a great song to sing - watch that high note in the break! Have fun!

Remember that we are always our own worst critics. Give yourself a break and have fun with it. There is a [nearly] 100% survival rate for this. ;D

Earl is so right about both counts! We often cringe at what we hear coming out of our mouths (especially recorded, yikes!), but with practice and training, it gets better ...not unlike any instrument we learn because the voice is[/i]an instrument. Cut yourself lots of slack, take heed of your teacher’s correction and praise, and smile a lot. :)

Well it went "ok". I need work. A lot of work. To work on more vocal sound, a new strumming pattern. To make "no" mistakes. To relax and enjoy myself. Etc,etc, etc. "whew" !!!

Way to step out of the old comfort zone, yeah me singing, be like Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge Boys singing lead...

The first step is the toughest. Now that you've taken it, it'll gradually become easier. Keep at it - it's worth it! Enjoy the journey and may God bless your efforts!

Well, I've been signed off on this one. Teacher sez "you done well". Now I'm going to try hard on a couple of Christmas songs by Kathy Matea. Songs off the Good News album. Maybe I'll get up the nerve to sing solo's. ...
One more scale pattern and I will have learned the whole neck.
