NGD GS Mini-e Koa FLTD - Flame on!
« on: October 02, 2014, 06:19:54 PM »
I just received today my first impulse guitar purchase. (I know what caused it, after my last purchase, I declared publicly it might be... my last guitar purchase.) Oh well.  ;)

I have always thought I could use a travel guitar, given we have a place at the beach and usually not a lot of room to pack a full size guitar and also not having an inexpensive acoustic that I'm not afraid of dinging up or having to worry about. I've come to quickly love the sounds and look of Koa with my K24ce and this all Koa GS Mini FLTD recently introduced caught my attention. (Yes, aware the sides and back are Koa laminate.)

So one night last week I was surfing the web and just stumbled on to this. Just sat there looking at it thinking, can that guitar really look that nice? Can the flame on the back of that GS Mini really be that awesome? I stepped away, but when I came back, it was there, staring at me. Telling me, "you can send me back if you don't think I'm all you hope I would be...."

Mashed a few buttons (as we say in the South) and voila, a few days later it shows up.

Sounds and plays great, I don't know that I can add anything that hasn't already been said about GS Minis. And I don't have much knowledge of the others to compare the sound with them unfortunately. As you can see, it has the ES-T pickup/preamp system, but haven't tried it yet.

But I do know I can't stop smiling when I look at it and play it....

The online photo that started it all.....

MY first impulse is to think you might want to buy another mini.....you know, so this one doesn't get dinged or scratched or get sand in it...you know, so you won't have to worry about...................................

Congrats!  That is just as pretty as my 424-LTD all koa from several years ago, and surely at a considerable savings.  Sorry - I don't know how to post pics.  Tried the obvious button, but it did not work.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Very nice impulse buy! You know, last year I said the same thing about my 512ce that you did.....that it was my last guitar. Two guitars later...

Congrats!

Thanks all! And I'm saying nothing about any other guitars from this point on, maybe that'll work!

OK, so I can use you as a reference if I get in trouble? "Hey, Susie bought two more!" haha

The diffused light I had with the earlier photos didn't really do much for the wood grain detail in those photos, so since I have nothing else to do tonight.....
