Title: Buggy forum
Post by: DennisG on April 29, 2017, 08:21:22 AM
And I don't mean a discussion group for horse-drawn carriages.

When I click on the "Marketplace: Buy, Sell, Trade" link, the forum software puts someone else's name at the top of the page.  In this case, it says "Hello Crgoddard", and every post indicates it hasn't been read, even though it has.  This occurs only in the Marketplace forum.  Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yep - mine says "Hello Taylor Girl" on the home screen...but this post still identifies me as Strumming Fool.

I notified Josh and a senior moderator about these problems early this morning. Hopefully they are working on it.

I got this effect as well, my guess is some sort of database corruption.

When I clicked into PMs I was another poster, who had a long, long list of PMs from the mods - and was a very bad boy LOL.  That poster had lots of temp-bans, infractions, etc.

Can't name them since I am senile and can't remember what their ID was, but as a gentleman and with respect to the forbearance of reptiles - I wouldn't name them anyway.  ;)

Like many on the forum, I saw these problems over the weekend.  I presume that it's all been resolved now?

The engineer in me is curious, though, about what caused it...?  And part of that curiosity is driven by a little healthy internet paranoia that wonders whether I need to check my computer for a virus that may have been lurking on the forum, placed there by a Chinese hacker...? :o

Another phenomenon: log-in, OK, go to a section, OK, go to one of the messages, bang logged out. Strange times in Casablanca!

I saw that behavior over the weekend as well, but I'm currently accessing from a different computer and all seems well at the moment...  If you're still seeing problems it's making me squeamish about my own computer... ???
