NMD/NGD
« on: June 10, 2015, 09:25:51 AM »
Good Morning UTGF Members.

My name is Stealyerface, I am from Upstate NY,  I recently adopted a Taylor Custom Shop Guitar, and figured I would stop by and say hello.

I had a chance to get a hold of a 2011 Taylor GA Custom in All-Mahogany, and after the glow of the new arrival had calmed down a bit, I have to say, I'm a big fan so far!

I also own a 1993 Gibson Starburst Studio Acoustic/Electric in Spruce/Maple, a 2012 Taylor GS Mini, and a 1954 Martin 00-18.

I called Taylor Guitars after I brought it home, and the guy I spoke with was nice enough to provide me with a build sheet, and the Custom Order worksheet from when it was built.

Love the Mahogany, and I really like the tortoise binding...

Here are the official Pics, and the at-home shots are next up.

Wow, it's beautiful! I'm a BIG fan of mahogany Taylors (and cedar, too). Yours is gorgeous. Bet it sounds awesome. You also have some impressive other guitars in your stable. Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy!

Love all hogs too!  I see why you're digging the tortoise binding on the neck.  There is a white line between said binding and the ebony fretboard, under the tips of each fret-never seen that before and is there a name for this "feature"?  Interesting!

I am not sure what that inlay/piping is called, but I think that it gives it a pretty nice look between the binding and the edge of the ebony.

The body-top purfling is listed as: CREAM, B/C/B/C/C/B  so, my guess is that it is the cream/white matching purfling that they ran down the fretboard.

I have never seen another one that looks quite like it, but I find it aesthetically pleasing with the lines of the guitar.

Taylor's 1997 Cujo guitar also has that same fretboard edge inlay. Honestly, I haven't seen it again until now. BEAUTIFUL instrument - congrats and welcome!

I also have that thin line/border on my 512ce's fretboard. It really is rich looking, yet subtle.
