I know they say "Taylor" on the back, but which company actually manufactures them for Taylor?

Thanks ... I just ordered a set of ebony tuner buttons from StewMac ... I believe they will fit Pings ... hoping so anyway.

Anyone else replaced their stock Taylor tuner buttons?  What did you buy?  Where did you get them?

I'll bet those will look nice!

The ebony ones I got from StewMac fit the Pings on my GA3 perfectly.

Is there much loose "play" before the tuner engages when you turn the ebony knob?  The ones I got from StewMac looked terrific .. but ... the fit was a little too loosey-goosey for me.  Technically they "fit", but I found that the tuners didn't feel nearly as precise as they did before.  Metal button on metal shaft gives almost no "play", while wooden button on metal shaft was a different story.  I sent them back to StewMac and put my original metal buttons back on for now.  Maybe I'll try some other supplier.

I'd love to see Taylor add an open-geared tuner like Waverly to their stock tuners and the Gotoh 510s. They would look awesome on a 700 series or 500 mahogany series guitar.

ataylor,

I agree,  I think I'll go to an open gear tuner sometime on my 412. I haven't done much research yet but a little drilling wouldn't bother me. Hopefully there's enough room on the back of the headstock for Waverly's.

I haven't really looked into it cause it's a ways down the road for me.

Open gears do give a nice "vibe", one that I like anyway.

Mine are rosewood, not ebony, but there in no play in them. They fit the posts tightly and feel very precise. They match the headstock overlay nicely. The wooden ones also lighten the overall headstock weight, but I did not weigh them to see how much. The package of six wooden knobs just felt much lighter than the same bag with six metal knobs.
