New appointments on the 300 series
« on: December 23, 2016, 11:38:52 PM »
I was at Gruhn's in Nashville today and played a bunch of guitars--mostly new Martins and Taylors. I played a 510 that was amazing. Then I played a 314ce (that's what I have) and it was great, bit I noticed the sound hole rosette had a thicker black ring as well as kind of split diamond inlays instead of the dots mine has.

When did these changes take place and are there any others that I missed?
2013 Taylor 314ce
2015 Martin D-18
1982 Martin HD-28
2004 Fender Telecaster
2010 Martin X-Series
Mid 80's Sigma DM-3

the rosette & fretboard inlays changed at the beginning of the year,
but there may have been some late 2015 models with same appointments -
more recently, the headstock overlay is ebony, rather than rosewood &
the 300 dreadnoughts now have a 24 7/8" scale, rather than 25.5"

the 2006 410 also had a 24 7/8" scale, which lasted for one year
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...
