Hello from the USA Heartland
« on: July 08, 2014, 12:39:04 PM »
Hello all,

I signed up to join the forum on 6/27 but never got anything back saying I was accepted.  I guess I must have been because I am logged in :)

I'm pretty much a newbie still.  I started playing an acoustic guitar in April 2013.  Around that time I started attending a local church and really liked the music and that the band was guitar lead.  I started practicing a lot and in October 14 I asked about playing in the band.  I was given a chance and I stayed on.  Around that time we started a satellite church and I was asked to co-lead worship.  Happy-happy-happy!

So, a few weeks ago, I started looking seriously at some better acoustics and I wound up playing a ton of guitars and found my little gem, a Taylor 514ce.  It sounds amazing and I found it used, but it is a 2012 and it had not one scratch or mark of any kind.  Not sure if the previous owner was a fingerstyle player or what but not even the pick guard had a mark.

Anyway, that's my story, I get to lead worship this Sunday for the first time with my 514!!  Yeah!!

Welcome sergioc. I played about 15 years in a church group. It's a wonderful experience and way to praise God. You have a nice Taylor with a 514ce. Does yours have a cedar or a spruce top? I have its little brother, a 512ce, which I love for fingerstyle. You will be among friends here. We'll be sure to help get you into your second Taylor.   ;D

Welcome sergioc-

Great story and great guitar you have there. I've been doing my own compositions at my church for  special offerings, and it's a great way to bond with both our brethren and our Maker!

Enjoy!

Welcome and congrats on your 514.  I lead services from time to time at my Temple, usually on my custom Taylor GC, and I imagine being a worship leader must be just as satisfying.  I usually have to accompany myself on 15-20 prayers of various kinds during the course of the service.  Every once in a while the Rabbi will have something profound to say, otherwise it's me playing away for an hour or so.
