Does the LKSM come with light strings or medium strings?
If i choose to use light gauge strings will i need to change the nut?(i assume it is cut for the stock medium strings)

the LKSM is designed to be tuned down to C# & it uses a 'custom gauge' (http://taylorguitars.us/guitars/reference/faqs_answers.html) set

you should probably be ok for the most part -
the .003 - .009 differences shouldn't necessitate the expense of having the nut replaced

What I meant to ask is if I can use lights on it wout damaging the nut/wearing it out in the wrong way

the nut slots have already been cut for the heavier gauge strings, but a light gauge set
(.010 -.047s) tuned to concert pitch should not 'damage' anything or require having the
nut replaced, unless there is a buzz, due to one (or more) of the nut slots being a bit too low
the only way to find out is to try it - you won't hurt anything by merely changing strings

That's my concern, the buzzing or uneven wearing of the nut due to use of light strings; I won't be using the stock strings since elixir don't sell a set.
I have no experience w this sort of thing and hence my question; will there be uneven wearing or buzz from the use of lights

if the nut is in good condition (with the nut slots cut to the correct depth & not excessively worn), using a .010 - .047 set
tuned to concert pitch (A 440Hz) should be fine, as the overall tension for both sets is nearly the same (256 C# vs 249)

Cool, you'll enjoy it! My wife and I went to see LK last fall in Red Wing, MN. Was a great show, I really enjoyed the storytelling he did between songs. A very very fast fingerpicker, wish I could play a tenth as good.

Leo is one player I have been able to go see yet. I sure would like to. I wonder what the story is with him and Taylor, how did he come to play Taylor?
