2 TRC sizes, who knew?
« on: February 27, 2012, 05:02:53 PM »
I sure didn't when I ordered another TRC from Taylor a month ago.  Turns out the ones made today are larger by 1/8th inch than the ones made before 2003.  All my guitars are from the 90s so I couldn't figure what was up until I called (duh!)  He filled me in on the change in 2003 and that he would get a smaller one out asap.
Cool!  Not sure who paid attention enough to know about this but there it is.
Here's a comparison I made up to illustrate.

When I ordered a TRC from Bill Nichols, he asked for the guitar's year and said something about some TRCs not being the same size. That was the only time I remember hearing about the difference. Kudos to Taylor for their excellent customer service! :)

Bill is the same person that I learned it from.  Great guy, products and service.

I knew. It's been mentioned many times over the years on the..., well, on another guitar forum I frequent. ;)  It doesn't surprise me that Taylor's Customer Service people would catch this - they're consistently The Best!

Both my Taylors are complimented nicely by their custom TRCs made by my friend Bill Nichols, who served for a number of years as a fellow Moderator over there. Great guy:  creative, artistic, trustworthy, interesting, just the kind of guitar lover you would enjoy hanging out with, and considering the level of work he does, downright inexpensive! I am always confident in giving him and his work my highest recommendation.

I have ordered several TRC's from Bill Nichols,  he also advised me of the two sizes.  I agree with Cotton, although I don't personally know Mr. Nichols I give his work my highest recommendation also.
Guitars? Yes still have them

Looking at this picture I just noticed that the bottom of the TRC has the same basic profile as the top odf the headstock...

i've seen the TRC flipped upside-down, so that the scallops mimics the headstock -
it wouldn't work on a T5, T3, Solid Body or GS Mini though (2 screws at one end)
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...
