Hi from the UK
I've been playing for a couple of years when I finally decided to buy a "nice" guitar. I went down the Martin route mainly due to people telling me that Taylor's were too "bright" and "you can't beat that Martin sound yada yada..."
I can't say I ever bonded with the Martin so I recently took an ex demonstration 812ce (2014 model) on trial. Absolutely gorgeous - warm and balanced and very easy to play. I think I liked it more than the Collings OM1 I played recently.
Anyway it was a bit too scuffed up for the money the dealer was requesting so with a heavy heart I sent it back.
I'm now on the look out for a new grand concert Taylor (with the new bracing etc..) but less expensive than the 800 series. Just thought I'd introduce myself.
Regards

Welcome CB. A lot of the joy of Taylors, is in the search. You'll find "the one" before you know it. Glad you joined us here, there's a lot of knowledge, if you have questions.

I'd recommend something in the 322 line. The hog top positions these guitars between Taylor highs and Martin lows, and the price should be in your range...

I'd like to recommend the 322. I have the Mahogany on Sapele, and my wife has the Mahogany on Blackwood, both the SEB. Comfortable sitting down, roomy neck, full but tight sound. I have to admit, I like the sound of my wife's better than mine...
