Hmm.  Well, you know me:  always thinkin' 'bout a 12-string... ::)  If I like the new 360e with a Blackwood body, it might be that.  I was also suitably impressed by the 858e, less so by the 458e.  I'm trying to be patient to see if Taylor kicks out a few 858e limiteds in Brazilian Rosewood (like other models in the 800 Series), but Joe at Empire Music doesn't think any such offerings are forthcoming from Taylor.  So perhaps a BTO GO-12...?

But the most likely short-term purchase could be a used 'beater' or new budget-level (think 100- or 200-Series DN or GA) Taylor.  Looks like I'm heading back to Kentucky & Alabama in 2017, so I'll need something to take on the road with me to keep in practice.  Last go-around my brother's Yamaha did the job, but just doesn't have that Taylor tone (which was immediately apparent as soon as I wandered into a local guitar shop wherever I was and picked up a Taylor...)...  So I'd like to get something that sounds good, but wouldn't bother me if it got a minor scratch or ding; or that wouldn't break my heart if it got damaged, destroyed, or stolen from a hotel somewhere...

Nothing planned, but nice instruments keep coming up.  So far, I've been able to keep GAS in check........

I've got a 6, a 12, a nylon and a baritone, so I've run out of excuses of different kinds and numbers of strings. :) I'll get some vicarious Taylor shopping in helping a bandmate pick one out soon, though. Probably a 510e as she's got her heart set on a dreadnought and we want something warmer to contrast with my 610ce, but I might try to sell her on something slightly smaller.

I would be tempted by a cheaper one like timfitz, though, if I saw a used 100 or 200 going cheap locally. I ended up playing around a fire with that 610ce Sunday night, and it seemed wrong to me to come home with that precious thing smelling like smoke.

I love my 314ce, but I don't plan on buying another Taylor, even though I really like the 320e. I think my next purchase will be a Martin dread.

I seriously think I like my 314ce so much that I could be fine with it as my only guitar.

Just bought a 1997 414ce last month == not planning on another -- but am finding that the 414 has spoiled me into not really liking the other than Taylor's that I have -- the others are "too bright" for my ear.  I LOVE THE SOUND OF THE 414!!!!!!!!

With both a fine Taylor nylon string and a Taylor steel string, these pretty much cover whatever I want to do musically, so no planned further purchases.  Of course, we all say that at some point. :)

Tim, As you know I travel a lot, and have gone to a rainsong Shorty for the road, lightweight and durable with a close to Taylor feel(neck thicker) with same scale length and body size as my GC's. That said, I tripped across a 214ce DLX a while back that would have been great for your needs, had sound better than the high end Taylors and Martins in the room, really just an incredible guitar. If only it had the 1 3/4 nut width! Anyway, be sure to check those out...

I have no further Taylor purchases planned. In fact I am downsizing the fleet. The Mini's stay because of my kids and wife, but otherwise would go. My main guitars are my 812ce and 522ce, both 12 frets with a road guitar of the Rainsong with the same scale length and body size as those. For now the 414ce and 314ce are staying, because they are old friends and incredible instruments and I am having a hard time saying goodbye to them.
But GAS is a funny thing...

For the first time in 5 years, I have no plans to acquire more instruments. In fact, I am in the process of reducing by two. Seven is my ideal number for now, and I see nothing on the horizon that would replace any one of these seven.
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

I am thinking about another 500 series.  Only this time maybe a LTD or BTO.  I would love to have it nicely figured back and sides.  I really don't need or want a cutaway or evan electronics, but I must have Gotoh tuners.  Only problem is I don't have the cash, I don't think my FGS will front me the funds and my wife said "NO", lucky for me she always forgives.  I need to raise some funds.

I think the only thing I can rationalize to my wife--and that's kinda important--is a nylon string critter to play the classical stuff I play.

Thanks for the recommendations, Dave!  I keep looking for a Rainsong to try out, but haven't come across one yet; it seems there are no dealers located in any of the places I frequent...

I also crossed paths with a 214ce-DLX during the past year, and like you was suitably impressed.  But I know what you're saying about the smaller nut width; since I'm going to be spending a lot of time playing it, I'd rather keep the neck width of this as-yet-theoretical 'beater' consistent with my other Taylors -- which is also what keeps me leaning toward a used 300-Series or higher as my 'drag-along' guitar.
