NGD Taylor BTO!!
« on: February 19, 2018, 01:27:46 PM »
So, some of you may have seen my post about a modified model I ordered from Taylor through a dealer here in Indiana. Long story short, after 6 weeks it arrived and there was zero changes done to the guitar. Standard topwood, stock hardware, pickguard, and finish. I was bummed but decided to re-order. I then stumbled upon a guitar with the exact wood pairings that I wanted and the topwood was only available through BTO. It was out of my price range so I watched the listing...then the price dropped, then dropped, then dropped again. The seller had a custom ordered guitar he was about to receive and hadn't hardly touched this one so he just wanted to sell it. I cancelled my order of the modified model, sold my electric and was able to snatch this BTO up before someone else did. Recieved it today and I love it. I hope I keep this one, I couldn't afford this build under normal circumstances.

PS: Don't feel bad for the dealer, I had to sell my electric to purchase this so I just used my store credit to buy an electric.

That is awesome.

It actually says "Crazy Rosewood" and references a specific wood number on the build sheet.

Yeah, I've never seen rosewood that looks like that.  So how's it sound?

I have only fingerpicked as I am waiting for my static clear pick guard to arrive tomorrow but it is crazy responsive and is deep with plenty of high end. The engelmann makes the high end more mellow which is why I love engelmann. I will be able to put it through it’s paces more this evening and will feel more comfortable cutting lose on it after my static pick guard is on. Anyone have a recommendation on a permanent clear pick guard? I see Taylor doesn’t sell them.

That's wildly figured rosewood.  Reminds me a bit of my Brazilian rosewood guitar.  Stuff Martin would have thrown onto the junk heap 60 years ago, selling for $10 or so a set!   Enjoy!!!!!

Thanks everybody. Funny thing...was putting on my clear static pickguard on tonight and thought, I need a microfiber cloth so I don't get dirt under this before I put it on. I stand up to get one and my giant iPhone falls out of my pocket on top of the guitar putting 2 dings in it. Good times indeed. I sent the pics to Taylor for a repair quote but if they don't think it has to be repaired I will probably leave it alone for now.

Ouch!!  Been there and I have done that.
Don't worry it will sound just as good as before.
