Does Taylor offer a hard shell case for a GS Min. Or is the soft case pretty durable enough to toss :o around in the Rv?
-
The gig bag the GS Mini comes in is pretty good.
Taylor doesn't offer a hardshell case for it...
-
Hi the gig bag has been upgraded for the mini..I has semi hard sides which allows the sides to stay at a 90 degree angle and it has a neck support built inside... I think it is a step above their reg gig bags.! But it still.is a gig bag hope this helps Rcoolz

At NAMM one year, I had a dealer lamenting the fact that we were going with the hard gig bags over the hardshell cases for the 200 Series.
Well, I just happened to have a 214ce in a hard gig bag at my table. I stood up, stood the gig bag up on the lower bout, and pushed it over.
Hard.
I then picked it up and threw it about ten feet into another table.
I opened the bag and the guitar hadn't even gone out of tune.
I wouldn't have been comfortable doing that with one of the 200 Series cases...
-
I travel in our motorhome with mine. I love it, it protects it just fine.
-

Wow, I'll bet their were a few jaws that had to be picked up off the floor when that demo was done.
That proved the point Steve. I guess I won't worry about getting a Hard shell case.

the hardbag for the GS Mini is quite a bit more 'substantial' than the
gig bag that comes with the baby, big baby & 100 series models, imho -
the 'lid' does have a liner in it, although it is not quite as heavy or stiff
as the 200 series hardbag, other than that, they are very comparable
i might trust an archtop plywood hard shell case that had interlor padding &
lining that was an inch thick around the entire body of the guitar a bit more,
but compared to a thermoplastic case with aluminum frame, i'd take the hardbag
ymmv

Not a Taylor but I have one of these and it works great.

Yeah, the hard gig bag will be fine for most of what you're going to throw at it.
And I also wouldn't recommend tossing it around just to prove a point...

Quite agree.... I threw mine off the roof to check out the case. by the time i got downstairs to the street, there was no sign of it at all!

It just dawned on me. Swerdfeger's probably reading that saying "He did what??"

The Mini "Gig Bag" is much more than a traditional gig bag IMO. It is more of a hard bag. That said I would rather have it than a hard case for using for a travel guitar (that I don't check into baggage at the airport).
-
I'm impressed with the GSmini gig bag. I've always had hard cases for my guitars. This is a good fit for the travel aspect of the Mini, keeping it light weight. Ours did fine traveling in the RV, and will soon be heading out in the boat.
-
I've heard that classical-size cases work, but I've not tried that myself...

Uhmm.... I wonder if it floats, could it be used a personal flotation devise?
-
Not sure if it would make a decent PFD, but it would be a good paddle if we have to abandon shi... yeah, I'm not going there. :-X
