'11 Taylor K24CE possible purchase.
« on: January 03, 2018, 09:27:39 PM »
I have a chance to pick one of these up at a pretty good price.

I think I can pick this one up for $xx out the door.

This is at a local pawnshop, and it's been there for a few months with no bites.

What do you guys think?

That is a beautiful guitar.
Love the wood and fingerboard.
I don't normally see Koa with that color stain, and it looks good.

It looks like you need new strings  ;)

The guitar has ES2 electronics...not available in 2011.  What is the serial number?

I think the serial number is 1106091088

I thought the 1st 2 numbers were the year. I guess I was wrong.

It is a 2011, given the 2nd (1) and 7th digits (1). Started 06/09/11.

The previous owner must have upgraded to ES2?

It looks like it needs A LOT of cleanup. Given that, my first question would be, how was it taken care of in more important terms, namely humidification? Does it appear to be structurely sound?

The guitar seems to be in good shape other than needing a little cleaning.

I think most of the dirt and grime is the fact it's been hanging on the wall at the pawnshop for a few months.

There is no cracks on the guitar and no warping of the neck.

I'm going to go take a good look at it again and make a good low ball offer and see what happens.

Even if it does need a little TLC, I think it should still be a nice find.

I think the guitar screams "Take Me Home Tonight".

"Just like Ronnie says".

I'm trying to move a few guitars to be able to pay for it.

Hopefully next week.

I know nobody around these parts is going to shell big money for it.

I feel confident it'll still be there.

Find out where the bracing is in this guitar and then do some tap testing to make sure there is no bracing that has come loose.  That does not look like a guitar store so I doubt they had someone check for internal integrity of the guitar.  Outside flaws are simple fixes, however internal bracing issues could be costly.

Thanks for the heads up Gerin. :)

I will look into that to make sure there are issues.
