2018 NAMM Discussion
« on: December 16, 2017, 02:36:03 PM »
(NAMM = National Association of Music Merchants show that takes place in Anaheim, California every January)

Just thought I'd start a thread where we could discuss the 2018 NAMM, since there always seems to be interesting topics floating around this time of year, especially when it comes to new and exciting things from Taylor.

What are you hearing and/or what are you hoping for?

I have heard whispering in dark alleys and back rooms about a new bracing pattern.  But I am not sure anybody is supposed to talk about it, so don't, okay.

I've heard that Taylor will be releasing a 900 series guitar in a GS mini size with all solid woods that include options in redwood, cocobolo, and koa.

Just kidding! But hoping Andy Powers reads this and takes a hint.  ;D
Taylor: GS Mini (koa), 517e, K24ce
Gibson: Hummingbird, SJ-200, SJ-200 12-string, SJ-200 parlor, Woody Guthrie J45 Southern Jumbo
Martin: 0000 Custom Ziricote
Preston Thompson O-Koa

NAMM is always exciting!  The one time a buddy of mine got me in I felt like that wide-eyed kid in a candy shop ...just so incredibly cool!  Great idea for a thread!! :D

If anyone attends, upload pics here, would ya?  Of Taylor stuff, to be sure, but also anything really cool that would feed our music addiction.  Yes, be the enabler ...with photos!

Wish I could go.. have not been there since '12.  Sadly for this year, a couple of household emergencies have pretty much removed my entire "let's get spontaneous" fund from the bank, so I won't be there.

Keep us posted!  Always looking for what's new.

That sounds like the bracing rumor.  Something exciting to look forward to.  However, I would put the NT neck ahead of any bracing changes (if that is it).

The T5 has been around for a long time and I guess the sales numbers have been good (I've owned a couple but traded for upper end Taylor acoustics . . . no slight to the T5).  T5z was a nice variant.  But it would be interesting to see what is going on in that world.  T6?  (six way switch . . . position six goes to '11'?)

It looks to me, that it says "Builders Reserve" in the middle of the label, along with Andy's signature in the background.
