Greetings from Flowery Branch, Ga
« on: December 11, 2017, 07:09:59 PM »
Long time player looking for my first Taylor. Thinking it may be a 614ce
Own Martins ( UMGF member ) Gibsons, Sigmas, and an Ovation I bought
new way back in 1974 ( my first “good” guitar )
Look forward to adding a Taylor to the herd in the near future

Welcome, Ed. A 614 will provide a nice contrasting alternative to a mahogany or rosewood Martin. Have fun with it!
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

Hi Ed! Good to have another Georgian among us. I really like the Taylor 600s, but suggest you take your time in selecting just the right model to compliment your current lineup. A 614 would be a nice contrast to your Martins and Gibsons, and would give you something special to enjoy in case the snow you had over the weekend decides to return. (Yes, folks, we do get snow occasionally in Georgia, though we never wait for an actual flake before panicking and heading out to get bread and milk. We don't know why, but I think it is required!)

Welcome to the forum Ed(EFG).  The 614ce could be a nice addition to your line up.  Hope it works out for you.

Thanks Cotten
I plan on testing a few before I pull the trigger. I am leaning towards a newer non cutaway
IMHO a non cutaway gives a fuller sound and I don’t play way up the neck   That being said
I hope to be able to A/B both.
And yes when it snows in Georgia everyone freaks out. I’m originally from NY which makes
it even more comical.
