2005 Taylor Grand Concert 512ce L10
Mahogany top, back, and sides
Used, in stunningly near mint condition; a huge thank you to its previous owner

Played quite a few GC's recently, including new, used, 12 fret, limited, presentation, and various combinations and permutations of those. I knew this was the one about as soon as I first played it. Incredible sound and ease of play. Been playing it pretty much since I got it earlier in the day.

Many personal firsts here:
First Grand Concert (ever)
First Acoustic cutaway (as opposed to electric)
First Acoustic mahogany (a major wood component of a Gibson Les Paul)
First Taylor Limited Edition (my rosewood J 200 is also a Limited)

So while it may be true that, as the guys sang, (Money) Can't Buy Me Love,
I like to think that sometimes you can find happiness when it's well spent.

Here is my new 414ce-r.  Love it.  It's my second Taylor.  I got a 114e about two years ago.  Goes well with my 1950 D-18!

I thought the NGD thread was for Taylors only until someone told me otherwise.

Here's mine--my first NGD in about 3 years and probably my last for a very long time:

I know this is a Taylor forum, and I'm a proud and happy owner of a Taylor 314ce, but I just had to make this post about my NGD--(drum roll, please)--Martin D-18!

My wife and I were in Charleston and I decided to check a mom and pop shop I'd never been to before. I had no intention of buying anything, but after trying a bunch of super nice Taylors (500 series and up; the 814ce Deluxe was awesome), I focused on the D-18. I've been GASsing for one for a couple of years (ever since I took the factory tour in Nazareth), and had played quite a few and really liked them all. It was almost closing time and the guy asked me what I thought and I told him I really liked the D18.

He said, "Why don't you take it home? Here's what I can do--." I know all about MAP pricing and "real price" and I'll just say I got a really good deal. I discussed it with the wife for a few minutes and after realizing she was not going to divorce and/or kill me, we did the deal.

I put on new strings (Elixir 80/20 Med). I've always used PB but the store was out so they gave me these to try. I've been playing lights or HD Lights (on my Taylor) for several years, but so far the Mediums don't seem to be holding me back from performing the lighting fast three-chord campfire songs I mostly play.

I tweaked the setup slightly and played it a bunch yesterday. I think I'm really going to like this a lot. I guess you could say I'm "stuck" with 2 really great guitars.  8)

NGD D-18:

New brothers. I'm sure they'll get along fine: ;D

#39 - 2017 Taylor 714CE LTD

I bought this guitar yesterday at the Taylor Roadshow. It was built Mar 21, 2017. Torrified Spruce top and Koa back and sides.
It sounds awesome, like any Taylor, falls between 814ce and 514ce, acoustically too.

Since I bought 814ce and 514ce, I hadn't decided what sounds better, but then I realized depending on my song choice (I'm a singer), I select my guitar. Then when I "met" 714ce with torrefied lutz spruce top and koa back-sides, it just fell in between the acoustic of the previous two. Beautiful top end shimmer, not as bright as 814ce and good low end (again not as deep as 814ce) and great mids similar to 514ce. Feels like best of both worlds and looks like it is an all-rounder guitar for me.

#44: traded my GS mini for a GS mini-e RW today. Basically for the electronics (ES2). The old one had an ES-GO. Big difference. I played all night, plugged in. Sounds terrific!
