Title: Ebony bridge pins
Post by: Airborne on January 08, 2018, 07:22:49 PM
I would like to replace the plastic bridge pins on my 214ce DLX with ebony pins. Looking on the Taylor site I found plastic, ebony, and ebony with abalone dots, however, they don’t specify if they fit my model guitar. I have sent Taylor an email inquiring, but have yet to get a response. I am looking for pins that will fit without alteration to the pins or guitar if that is possible. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks for your time and any response.

The bridge pins that Taylor offers fit all their models as far as I know....

Yup ...this is your answer.  Long ago I had replaced the cheesy plastic pins with Taylor's ebony ones, and recently a used 210 I bought had cheap plastic ones courtesy of the prev owner (with faux abalone dots, yikes!) that I replaced with Taylor's ebony ones.  Just order from Taylor and you'll be fine :)

I recently replaced the pins on my GS-Mini with ebony pins with abalone. They fit great and look awesome.

You can find them at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UTD0YG8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Best of luck...

I replaced the plastic bridge pins on my GS Mini Koa a few months ago with the ebony/abalone that Taylor supply. They went straight in no problem. To the eye the ebony pins look wider and shorter, so I measured the difference to see how far apart they are. So taking the head as the external part seen when fitted, along with the lip at it's base, and the hidden part as the shaft -

head diameter ebony 7.75mm  plastic 7.4mm
lip diameter ebony 7.15mm  plastic  5.95mm
shaft under lip ebony 5.35mm  plastic 5.2mm
shaft end  ebony 4.2mm  plastic 3.5mm
total length  ebony 26.6mm  plastic  30.35mm

The lip under the head is absent where the slot is on the plastic pins, but is complete all around on the ebony.

Looks great Magiris.

I too ordered the Taylor abalone/ebony pins for my 'new-to-me' 150e.  A double-pack of 6 was only $18.00 from Sweetwater and should arrive soon.

I'm not a big fan of plastic...

No more plastic.  The Taylor ebony pins fit with no issues on my 150e.  I wonder why Taylor states 300 series or higher?

I even shaved the mircata saddle down a bit...
